The story of this whisky begins in 2017, with spirit distilled at Starward, which eventually made its way to France to be aged 18 months in Ratafia casks. The resulting 297 bottles, released at 47%, are some of the most exciting and unique Starward whiskies to exist. a delicate, strawberries and cream lightness that mingles with, and accentuates the red-wine cask background of the spirit.
Gilles Dumangin, fifth generation champagne grower, began giving his Ratafia Champenois barrels a new life, purchasing spirits to be finished in France and bottled under the "Specialites Dumangin" brand. The resulting whisky releases have been praised for their rich and unique character.
