Pikes Los Companeros Shiraz Tempranillo is a blend of 74% Shiraz and 26% Tempranillo. Perfect blending companions, Tempranillo provides aromatic lift and a rustic textural element to the soft richness of the Shiraz. No new oak here, so the fruit really sings. 2019 was a warm dry vintage with smaller crop levels that resulted in fruit with a high concentration of flavour.

Colour: Medium deep red.

Aroma: A vibrant display of red and blue jubey fruits, intertwined with five spice and cinnamon. Charry oak adding complexity.

Palate: The soft blue and red berry characters follow on to the palate. Shiraz providing a mouthful of plush spicey-sweet fruit, whilst Tempranillo plays its hand by contributing a deliciously rustic, savoury tannin profile.

Food Pairing: This wine pairs very well with smoky flavours and aromatic spices, so a perfect companion for low and slow spice rubbed brisket.
