Minnow Creek Wines was founded in early 2005 by winemaker Tony Walker. Tony spent six years as a winemaker at Fox Creek in McLaren Vale, worked two vintages in the heart of winemaking in France, and worked ten vintages for Rosemount Estate, both as a winemaker and as a vineyard assessor. This means that he has intimate knowledge of the vineyards in the region, and can tell from tasting a single grape whether a vintage is good enough quality for our wines. Every vineyard that provides grapes for Minnow Creek has been hand-selected by Tony, visited in rain and shine. Our growers don’t just provide our grapes – they’re part of our family.
Our Shiraz has been produced since 2005 from the Lopresti family’s Nursery block, from grapes that were planted in 1994. Tony will happily rave about the canopy to fruit ratio and firm savoury tannins of these incredible grapes, and in the bottle, they produce a punchy, deep wine that is alarmingly easy to drink.
Minnow Creek believes in following the wine from the vineyard right through to the shelf. All our fruit is sourced from McLaren Vale. There are currently four wines in the Minnow Creek stable, all with their own unique character.
