“From Giorgio Sordo this is Gioso, an alt-range from that producer. This has some mettle and thrust. It’\’s a blend of sites, as I believe, and hangs out in big, older Slavonian oak barrels. This is a ripper.
It’s got that almost glass-shard tension and gloss, so slender, a succulence that leaves a distinct pucker and a mouth-watering freshness. Tannins ripple beautifully, ultra fine, indeed; I couldn’t quite believe the price and status of the wine for this high-quality tension, minerality and general persistence. Whoa. Tart, just ripe red cherry, rose hip tea, hazelnut savouriness, black tea and a curious elderflower, floral lift with a faint sooty spice and clove character underlying – lots and lots on. It’s so fine boned and restrained. Could be, likely is, the best, ‘entry level’ Langhe nebb I have seen. Blown away.”
