Vintage One of the more challenging years in the past decade.
Rain from September - through to harvest created consistent
challenges in reaching optimal ripeness. Thankfully attention to
detail in viticulture including bunch thinning to reduce crop load &
speed up ripening, lift up foliage wires to let in more sun light, and
restricted irrigation provided some outstanding results
particularly in the younger grenache block.
Vineyard Single vineyard Fiano from the Hugo estate.
This is our first release after grafting over from chardonnay on
the property several years back.
The vines are pruned to one bud for crop management and lift
up foliage wires are used.
Winemaking Fruit was handpicked at sunrise and crushed early
morning. Fermented cool to preserve fruit purity and delicacy.
50% of the wine is then matured in older french oak hogsheads
& 50% is matured in stainless steel.
Regular lee stirring is also applied to build generous mouth feel &
texture.
Bottled early September.
