The wine has matured and concentrated slowly in old brandy kegs. These are stored in the roof of the original part of the winery built in 1880.
The wine displays complex aromas of dried fruit, spices and roasted nuts. It has a rich and intense mid palate leading to a persistent but subtle sweet finish.
Blended to a minimum age of 20 years and managed through a modified Solera system. This rare liqueur tawny is Grenache dominant, but is blended with Shiraz, Red Frontignac, Tinta Madeira, Tinta Roriz, Verdelho and Touriga.
Fortified wines remain important for heritage reasons. They continue to be produced in our historic cellars, using vats and old transport barrels dating from the late 19th and 20th centuries.
Colour: Rich, sticky tawny.
Palate: Rancio flavours with great spice and chocolate character with some freshness and drinkability.
